In the third quarter of 2023, the Reference category saw notable activity among the top 5 apps in the Netherlands. Here's a closer look at their performance based on data from Sensor Tower.

Google Translate consistently led the pack in terms of weekly downloads and active users. Weekly downloads peaked at around 21.5K in late July, before stabilizing around 16K towards the end of September. Active users showed a steady increase, starting from 887K at the beginning of the quarter and reaching nearly 986K by the end.

DeepL: translate & write experienced a gradual rise in both downloads and active users. Weekly downloads saw a high of approximately 5.1K in mid-July, while active users increased from 28.8K to 34.7K over the quarter.

Afvalwijzer showed stable performance in weekly downloads, with a notable spike in early August reaching around 4.2K. Active users fluctuated slightly but maintained a solid presence, ending the quarter at around 57K.
